“Sometimes, the grass really is greener on the Windows desktop screensaver.” — not only a delicious sentence to say out loud, but got a full blown giggle from me. I’d also never heard of those Jelly phones before, and I’ve been flirting with the idea of getting a smartphone alternative, thank you !
Whenever I hear the "grass is greener" phrase I instantly think of that screensaver ... which probably means I've spent too much time online! And glad the Jelly info is useful: I highly recommend it if you're looking for a phone that can do everything a smartphone can but is so small you won't want to do those things all the time. For that reason, it's been perfect for me.
Hey Talia! Were you the one that recommended to me Vita contemplativa by Byung-Chul Han?! I forgot all about it until my hold at the library became available last week and oh my god, I want to remember who recommended it so I can thank them because it's seriously so good, and I'm like 89% sure it's you...
i think it was me! We definitely talked about it in a comment thread on a previous post. Glad you liked it so much - given what you write about I'm not surprised! For such a small book it packs a big punch. I'm sure I could get a lot out of it even on a second or third read.
Thanks for the info on Cara... I hadn't heard of that. I am SO dismayed by AI, and I detect it in so many images now. BLECH!
I recently bought Affinity to replace Photoshop, which I use quite often for various things. I wasn't doing it because of Adobe's evil nature, but you've made me extra glad to have found an alternative 👀
At one time (many years ago) Instagram was great! From what I've heard Cara is like the old days of IG. And I'm with you on AI - I get that it can be put to creative use but I'd love to a) not see it taking over my timeline, b) know when I'm looking at an AI generated image, and c) not help train it!

It was brilliant, thank you so much for the recommendation! I'm going to get a copy, it's a book to come back to over and over again.
